Airbag SRS warning light remains solid red
Airbag SRS warning light remains solid red
Anyone had this issue? I pulled these 2 codes.....
SEAT BELT BUCKLE SW RH CIRCUIT [OPEN] B1429 - Seat belt buckle switch RH circuit is open.
SEAT BELT BUCKLE SW RH CIRCUIT [UNDEFINED] B1429 - Seat belt buckle switch RH circuit is malfunctioning.
Looks like it's either a bad buckle, a bad airbag diagnosis sensor unit, or bad wiring. I didn't see anything after a visual inspection so figured I'd ask before I start swapping parts out.

Are you saying you can fix that? I don't understand. If it were just a defective buckle you would see it. And if it were just the buckle, how exactly would you fix it? Cut the seat belt, replace the buckle, then glue the seat belt up with superglue?
What am I missing here?

UPDATE: Well the new buckle didn't fix the issue so I started digging a little deeper and discovered that some auto manufacturers offer extended warranties on seat belts. I looked up Nissan's warranty info and sure enough, it's covered for 10 years! Where were you people on that one?? lol Anyway, it ended up being the seat belt pretensioner which I find odd considering the error code specifically said it was the buckle. But anyway, the warranty work was done at no cost and all is well again.

Who knew?
Isn't it amazing that one can simply look at information printed by the manufacturer of a vehicle to find out how to use the useful features, and as an added no cost bonus, one can even find out what is covered and for how long by the manufacturer's warranty?

Ah yes, the obligatory "read the owner's manual" comment from the pompous toolbag who likes to pretend he knew the answer all along but oddly neglected to comment until after the fact. Yes oh wise one, I made the mistake of assuming the seat belts were part of the standard warranty which was already expired. Please accept my sincerest apologies for such an obvious oversight. I hope this won't prevent you from sharing your infinite wisdom after the next time I answer my own question that you were too ignorant to help out with.

You chose to ignore his advice, and when he questioned you by asking "Are you saying you can fix that? I don't understand. If it were just a defective buckle you would see it. And if it were just the buckle, how exactly would you fix it? Cut the seat belt, replace the buckle, then glue the seat belt up with superglue?

This was your response to his correct suggestion..."No I wouldn’t fix it, I would replace it. The buckle has a wired connection that sends a signal to the computer. Ever wondered how the car knows whether or not you are buckled? lol The wiring inside the buckle could be damaged or the connector could be bad, who knows."
Now you are attempting to take credit for @lionel2013's correct answer by saying "I hope this won't prevent you from sharing your infinite wisdom after the next time I answer my own question that you were too ignorant to help out with".
Seems to me that you didn't answer your own question, @lionel2013 answered it. My ignorance is really not a factor here.
Well at least you can admit to your ignorance, and continue to prove it. I asked what was causing the codes not the best method to go about solving them. Do you really think I needed someone to point out that the dealer could fix it? Maybe if he would've said that there was a 10 year extended warranty on the seatbelts, that could've been useful, but it still doesn't provide the answer. I was the one who gave that info when I was nice enough to come back here and update my post with exactly what part was replaced so that future members who searched for this would gain from it. Believe it or not, there are those of us who would prefer to work on our own vehicles and learn from it rather than pay $130 for the dealer to diagnose every single issue so we can have more time to read and memorize the owner's manual.
