recharged battery, now running lights stay on when i connect battery?

so, i have a yellow top and it died from sitting and me not driving it. had it recharged and went to put it back in and the wind blew the hood shut. i've had the hood slam before, but i had the hood strut clamp on. i opened it back up, everything looked ok. i could'nt get the battery connector tight on 1 side, and the hid's weren't coming on although i heard the ballast popping. so, what do i need to check after i replace the bolt on 1 side? fuses for the hid's, and running lights? the wires are a hot mess and she be re-done for the hid's, ideas, any help would be appreciated, thanks

I'm not familiar with an H I,D setup.

I can explain relays though.

a relay is basically a switch which contols high amp
loads such as the headlights. The contacts inside the relay turn the headlights on or off. The contacts switch back and forth when a solinoid electromagnet gets a low amp power from the head light switch.

Sometimes 'a severe overload will cause the high amp contacts in the relay to weld together. The symptom is that the headlight's are always on.
