I have a 09 maxima and my trunk does not open from the inside I have to physically go through and connect with a string to pull the lever to open the trunk from the rear seat. any suggestions so what might be the problem and how to resolve it. thanks in advance.

 

do you hear it click like the latch is trying to open or no? if you hear it try to open and it just doesn't, replace the latch. if you hear nothing, i would start by checking fuses then if all are okay, i'd consider changing the latch. you could go more into depth by checking for broken wires as well.

 

I had the same issues. Trunk would work then not. The wire bundle running from the trunk to the lid break at the point where they bend tight inside of the tube. I replaced all the wires with more flexible wiring to correct the issues. I lost power to the lights as well.

 

Make sure your valet switch is turned on. If it's off it disables the trunk switch.

 

So the interior button next to the steering wheel doesn't pop it i assume? Does the remote fob work, or the keyless entry button on the outside of the trunk lid? If none of those work then I agree that looking at the wiring harness going to the release would be step number 1.

 

i have the same problem with my 2016 Nissan maxima the trunk won't open i have to pull emergency trunk opener which you can access it through the back seats. does anyone know the problem please let me know.
