Can't open my trunk??

Hello! I have a little problem. I am selling my 91 SE here in Minneapolis, but my trunk will not open! I can pull the release beside the seat, but it is loose...(like the trunk is already open.)

The other thing is that the trunk seems to be open just a bit. (I can move it up and down about a 1/2 inch or so. It will not open or completely shut?) If you can provide any help or suggestions, I would really appreciate it.

try to get your key in there and wiggle it around move the trunk lid a little bit too trying to open it from the outside. there is a safrety latch in the trunk. if you open the trunk with the key in the ignition the latch will go down and making it unable to open again from the inside. atleast until you push the latch in the trunk up. the latch is by the lock itself. if you still cant open the trunk very well, get some liquid graphite. its freakin awesome stuff for locks. makes it so the lock is lubricated nicely. most likely when you pull on the release by the seat its because the latch in the trunk isnt in the up position. try these things first then see what happens.

i had probably 3 months of hellwith my trunk until i figured out how exactly the latch worked. the liquid graphite is sweet too.

goodluck.

Have you tried the trunk release lever?
