Spoiler...trunk not popping open

I just added the stock spoiler to my GXE, but now the trunk does not pop open obviously due to the added weight. How do you change the torsion bars for the trunk? Is it hard to do, any special tools required? Or is there something else I can do for a fix?

Thanks

"your trunk is weak, your trunk is weak"

I can honestly say, i have never heard this before. did one of your bars rust through?

Oh and when you say it doesnt pop open, do you mean that it doesnt stay open after you open it fully? or that it doesnt pop fully open on its own?

it just doesn't pop open on its own, like when you push the trunk releae button

The SE's and GXE's actually have different torsion on them due to the presence of the heavy spoiler on SE's

Dayle, you should just do the hood strut mod to the trunk that Matt created

sooooooooo is this how it plays out:

you open your door, press the trunk release button, hear a click, walk back, notice the trunk didnt pop open, insert key, turn, and manually pop open the trunk

??

EDIT: Nevermind, looks like Matt took care of it

You mean you're pulling the lever and nothing happens? No click, can't lift the trunk, can't get it open without inserting the key and turning it? If that's the case, when I got mine I had the same problem. There's a small switch right in where the trunk latches that once flipped up will allow the lever in the car to work. It's a valet thing and I couldn't figure it out for the first few months I had my car either (until I looked in the manual ). But if you mean it doesn't pop open very much, if it's any consolation, mine does not open more than an inch and is an SE with a factory spoiler. I just learned to live with needing to lift the trunklid after popping the lever.
