I can't speak for the Maxima, but I've had one on my Vette for many years. To tell you the truth I never noticed anything in the seat of my pants. Actually nothing changed really, not even the idle. I suspect the Max will be similar. I know in the quarter mile my reaction time varies my time more than a K&N ever would. I would not waste my money unless you just want to say you increased your HP by maybe 2 near the top of your RPMs.

You’re more than likely losing a bit of power since it’ll suck hot air. The sound is great thought.

I've actually seen videos on YouTube where they show how k&n (and other high performance filters) let more dust and debris into the engine than other filters, all while adding next to nothing horsepower wise. I personally get the more expensive, non "high performance" filters that will protect my engine best

I also hear the K&N filter, being oil-based could foul your MAP or MAF sensor. No 1st hand experience on that but given the ease of owner change out, why not stick with the Nissan filter?

When Altima.net was at its peak.....we had quite a few guys with the 3.5 that put a K & N in and had a MAF failure. I used one and did not have an issue......it was a waste of money....but I had it.

Unless you are updating the exhaust end from the cat back no need to really go the after market other than to reduce cost of filter replacement over the life of the car. It you take more air in you have to let it escape more efficiently with reduce back pressure to get real gains.

Save your money if you are not updating intake and exhaust together. In addition a custom tune to make use of the aftermarket is desirable as well. More $$$$$

... and your intake air volume is limited by the diameter of the intake throttle bore.
