Cylinder 1 on 96 Maxima not firing.
Cylinder 1 on 96 Maxima not firing.
We replaced all 6 plugs and #1 ignition coil. Still not firing. Car is driving on 5 cylinders. My mechanic said he would check for compression next. (He came to my house without his compression tester).
Could it be the fuel injector or ? Any help is appreciated.

Yes, it could be the fuel injector. But first, switch coilpack 1 with coilpack 3 and see if the problem moves to cylinder 3. If so, you still have a coilpack issue. If not, look at the injector.
Also, did you put replacement OEM coilpacks in? or aftermarket?
What sparkplugs did you put in?

What Wizard said.
you bought the right brand of coil and also plugs.
Occasionally a brand new coil will be defective even when new. That's why he wants you to move the new coil to a different cylinder. If the problems move with the coil, a coil is defective.
Our cars seldom have compession issues.
The fuel injector 's are failing regularly now.
Do some research about that. DON'T buy all new injectors.
did you keep track of which plugs came from which cylinders? If do, send photos. Tell us which plug came from the non firing cylinder.

The last thing you also want to do is, if the above methods don't show any results, check the harness for shorts and the continuity and battery volts, to make Sure the harness has no breakage going to the coils.
I apologize for not returning sooner. We swapped the coils and the problem stayed on cylinder 1. It didn't throw a code when I had it scanned but I understand injector failure may not show up. How long will it take an experienced mechanic to replace the #1 injector ?
thanks

They are failing due to age alone it seems.
Once one fails, the others will soon.
the manifold needs to be removed to replace the rear injectors. That is a pita do do. It will cost money if you pay a mechanic.
It's highly advised to replace all three rear injectors at once. Or the manifold will need to be removed again, and soon.
might as well check the knock sensor for cracks while the manifold is off. The sensor is easy to replace at that time, bit a pita if it's on.
