Belt squeaking after hitting a deer.
Belt squeaking after hitting a deer.
Hiya everyone! I recently had a new belt and AC compressor put on my 2010 SV. About a week later I hit a deer only going about 10 MPH. It bent the hood a little and dented driver side fender.
But now my brand new belt is squeaking a lot! Do you thing it needs to be re adjusted/tightened?

Is your new belt OEM? If not you are going to get the squeaking. On another note my wife hit a deer right in the middle of the grill with her 09 Max doing 45mph. It took out the front bumper, air dam, grill and radiator, and it's supports and hoses, but the serpentine belt was uneffected.

Any brand belt other than Nissan seems to be manufactured differently and is slightly longer around. Just a hair but it allows the belt to slip around the pulleys creating that squeal. Belt is on passenger side so opposite of your deer incident. Get a belt from the stealership. I tried 3 or 4 non OEM belts that either slipped off and sheared a rib or spat right out after just a few drives... Check out the stitches on the belt from Nissan. I think those are what make that thing so magical.
