cvt vs hill

Good evening all, i purchased a 2011 max back in march had around 71k now it has 74k. the car drives ok, when i 1st got it was expecting a little quicker off the line seem a lil sluggish when starting from a stop, then sometime it seemed fine. i have a 2002 max that seems to accelerate better with 200k. i just drive my friends 2014 rouge last week that even accelerates better thts when i said i need to write you guys for some advice. when i 1st got the car i changed oil and noticed a lil trans whine when taking off in rev or drive. i change all fluids; engines purrs no ses. i got my trans fluid from nissan here and followed steps found on this site.. when in on the highway. it cruises great. just not so great when starting off. if its a incline or hill it really seems to struggle to get to 40 mph. after trans fluid change it pretty much did what it did before. still drives good but still hear occasional whine when windows down and radio off. any suggestions. so sorry for long post

Assuming everything is working fine and CVT is optimally functioning, you chose the wrong car for torque, i.e it IS slow off the line, pushing it will accelerate wear and tear (on the transmission that is). It may have a good passing power on the highway, but off the line it's not a performer

Assuming you have something wrong with your CVT, you will not be able to fix it yourself. I would say you have two problems. One it whines, and it shouldn't, and two it struggles to get to 40 on a hill. My 2009 SV Sport does neither. It's quick as hell going uphill and is very quiet. Take the car to the dealership and have the CVT diagnosed for problems.
