2009 Maxima shut down while parked at store. Boost the car off and it ran no problem Went to auto part store and had battery tested. Battery is good. Now he said alternator was good although he didn't take battery post off. Two days go by and the car drives perfectly. Went out of town this weekend, came back and car won't start. Tired boosting it but smoke started coming from the left side of car when facing it

 

Sure soumds like alternator to me.

 

Not good when you let the smoke out.
