Howdy all,
My new to me 18 maxima platinum arrives via Carvana Wednesday. It is the pearl white color and I plan to make it very similar to a midnight edition. My question is how do you guys think these wheels would look with my color combo? I love the styling, but am a bit apprehensive about the wide openings. The stock rotors and calipers are nothing great to show off, would this pose a visual issue? 19's or 20's, etc? Opinions welcome! XO Verona
WHEELS look great though you need to judge the offset as well as the size. We have some wheel gurus who might weigh in with the numbers.
Agree the calipers would need a little work. Someone was selling colored covers on eBay awhile back.
Congrats on your car. Would also appreciate it if you shared your Carvana experience with us. Did it go well?
My Carvana experience is still in progress. I will say I did NOT set out to buy a car online. I had been searching the norms like autotrader and cars.com looking for a local dealer who had exactly what I wanted. My criteria were simple; 2018 (had to have Android auto), Midnight or platinum, and in white. I spent weeks not being able to find that combination and decided to roll the dice and check out Carvana.
If you think about the idea of Carvana (selling cars online) you quickly realize you have an explosive growth opportunity that as a company you don't want tarnish (especially considering the pandemic). They have to be doing something right?
Sure enough within 10 minutes I found the exact car I wanted in Platinum (Midnights are no where to be found). It showed me the Carfax for free and I saw it was a one owner North Carolina car. I live in Ohio so getting a southern car is a major plus. There is obviously no haggling or dealer fees. What you see is what you pay. I also like their straightforward approach of showing blemishes up close in the pictures.
I also had a trade that I thought I would get crushed on. KBB was anywhere from $20k to $24k and they gave me $22k, for blue book I will take it all day long.
The paperwork process was mostly e-signing, online loan application, etc. You do have to upload around 3-4 documents including your DL.
Another unique feature is that while you are waiting on your car to be delivered you can shop other cars and it shows you your payment difference if you were to chose the alternate car. And you can literally stop your current deal if something better comes along (not sure about transport cancellation fees). This after purchase process has been the most fun. I search every day for something better and ironically only find higher mileage cars for more money. Maybe I hit the algorithm lottery but I only pain $26k for an 19 platinum with 16,000 miles.
My Max is scheduled to arrive Wednesday, more to come...
NO NO NO NO to the caliper covers!
