Platinum Edition headlight BULB (along w/a few other) upgrade question(s)
My '17 is just about to leave "warranty land" and I've been slowly upgrading the lamps/bulbs.
So far, I've upgraded the plate, backup, trunk, step light, footwell, and fog lamps. (I used Lasfits, they seemed to be an okay compromise between performance and cost, some of the lamps I purchased on "Prime Day" or on ePay.)
I removed the rear passenger compartment lamps and discovered that they don't appear to be user-replaceable. (I'd like to have found that in a thread search before I removed the fixture-it's a PITA to get back in.)
I have not yet upgraded the front map light LEDs, the turns, brakes or headlamp bulbs. In order of uncertainty with regard to advisability, I'd like to get someone to explain WHICH of the headlamps is actually replaceable in the Plat. The high beams are the ones that I think are the least impressive of the two and would think they're the Halogens because of the lower (and dimmer) color temperature. So they're the ones I'd really like to swap out. But I see companies selling both lows and highs. Contrastingly, I see threads here that say the SR's/Plats have different headlamps and that parts of the Plat headlamps can't be upgraded. Which can and which can't? The H11's or the H9's?
I have turns and brake lamps on the way that (ALLEGEDLY) don't require external resistors to offset hyper flash.
I'm in NC, so if any members have insights into how NC views upgrades of standard headlamps, I'd appreciate any advice from those with first-person experience. I know that they outlawed lightbars on trucks but I don't see anything definitive about LED's in DOT approved/required housings. I'm okay with leaving the low beams as they are, because their output isn't anything to sneeze at, but if I have to (and am able to) upgrade the highs, then I might as well upgrade the lows, again, if that's possible.
TIA, for any help...
