Replace Struts Still Rides Hard

I recently replaced the OEM struts on my 14 maxima SV with Monroe brand complete struts and coil springs thinking i was going to better the ride, and i was wrong. I can feel every bump on the road and the car would ride smoother with the old OEM struts than with the new struts. I have tried to get the OEM struts complete with the coil springs since i don't have the old ones, but nissan dealerships only sell the OEM struts without the coil springs, meaning i would have to rent a machine to install the coil springs. Has anybody bought the OEM struts with the coil springs already installed? Another question, would the OEM struts on a S model work on my SV model? I have read the S model has softer springs.

"S" and "SV" struts are the same part number. No, you cannot purchase complete strut assemblies. And it's not a "machine", it's a $30 dollar spring compressor kit.

Amazon Amazon

Why did you ditch your stock struts and springs? You threw away about $300 dollars worth of OEM parts.

I would go pull springs from a yard and start building an OEM pair of struts. OEM is always superior to cheap aftermarket. The Munroe's will keep you on the road till you have the new set built and will make a good spare set just in case.

Just a subjective search of this forum will show that people who used the "quick strut" (struts with the spring pre-installed) versions weren't happy with the ride. Personally, I have the Monroe Struts and shocks and have been fine with them but then again, I only replaced the Struts and not the springs. User1 is absolutely correct about the spring compressors. They are great tools to have in your toolbox. Just note you really have to compress the springs on our Maximas to get them installed so don't get a cheap set. The ones from Amazon should do fine. Don't be surprised if you have to reposition after the initial compress to get the clearance you need but it really isn't a tough job.
