Need a new Purge Valve Solenoid/ Canister?

Hello everyone, I am looking to sell my car but i have a check engine light on, needs a new purge valve solenoid or purge valve canister? Are these one in the same thing? Any reason to pay $170 for one from Napa? Seems like they can be had for $70-100 ordered online, but I want to make sure I'm getting the right part. Any help would be great.

What makes you think either is bad? You may want to check for vacuum leaks and or connections first. But to answer your question directly, no they aren't the same thing 149558J10A is the purge valve solenoid the Canister Purge Control Valve is 14935AM60B

Brought it to a shop I very much trust, had a service engine light one, thats what they narrowed it down to. Ok good to know. I called Napa and asked them for a "purge valve solenoid" and they seemed to think the Control Valve came with the solenoid. I'm selling the car, just need to get this light off.

It's the right one. You could probably even pull yours, check it, clean it if needed, and test it with your own car battery by just putting 12v to it and hearing the click. There's nothing to these things. Its a coil and a magnet.

There's like 4 or 5 of these things on the 7th gen, one on the top left of the engine for a motor mount, two for the VIAS system, one for the evap system. They are all the same. I've opened them up myself and checked them out when I put a 2014 motor in my 5th gen two years ago. I didn't need the motor mount valve and I had a busted VIAS valve that came with the motor , so I swapped them out and it's all good.

Go pull one of the VIAS valves from a yard if you're tight on funds. I have a couple laying around but at $17 you're probably better off using your amazon acct. Bezos has to eat to, ya know.

I think it's right at the canister, under the car on the driver side behind the rear wheel. Check the FSM

Amazon.com: 14935-AM60A Evaporative Emissions Vapor Canister Vent Valve Solenoid for Nissan Maxima Altima Murano Infiniti G35 QX56 FX35 - Replace 911-503, 14935-AM600, 14935-AM60B EVAP Vent Control Purge Valve: Automotive Amazon.com: 14935-AM60A Evaporative Emissions Vapor Canister Vent Valve Solenoid for Nissan Maxima Altima Murano Infiniti G35 QX56 FX35 - Replace 911-503, 14935-AM600, 14935-AM60B EVAP Vent Control Purge Valve: Automotive

Both are easy to get to on the right front of the engine. Just a hint...when removing the one at the Amazon.com: 14955-8J10A VIAS Control Solenoid Valve for Nissan Altima Frontier Maxima Murano Quest Pathfinder NV Xterra 149558J10A P1800 K5T46673: Automotive (viglink.com) be careful you don't break those plastic bits off and end up having to replace some vacuum lines (not that is is hard, just a little frustrating in the cold) The one for the Vent Control Purge valve is easier to replace but once more these larger lines can be a bear to remove from the valve without breaking or cracking but still easy to replace. Good luck with this

LMAO!!! Difference is you teach them how to fish and I fed them. You are obviously either a talented mechanic by trade or a very accomplished shade tree. Either way your contributions are invaluable.

I rushed and just googled a pic of one of your part numbers which populated a lot of the incorrect (VIAS valves) images. Oh well, my bad!

Disregard my previous info. This is why I always try to start with POST YOU CODES!

There are two, the valves look the same as each other, but have slightly different part numbers, and they are NOT the same as the VIAS valves I mentioned above (although a VIAS valve could probable be made to work in a pinch).

One is located where the Lt's image shows, and the other is about where I said it was in the back under the car, but according to the FSM you have to drop the fuel tank to get to it.

I would test the under-hood valve before I dropped the tank. Come back with your codes, as I'm pretty sure there is a code specific to each valve, but I'd have to look at the FSM again to confirm that and I don't have time right now. It would make sense considering one is staring at you when you pop the hood, and the other requires some pretty serious shop time to access.

Your shop should have been able to narrow it down to the exact component. Kinda odd you're here on the forum with vague info after a mechanic has had eyes on it, but anyway, we should have codes before any definitive direction can be given.
