2004 nissan maxima sl wont start

2004 nissan maxima sl wont start

so yesterdsy I started the car up and ran it for a while and it started smoking cuz the catalytic converter was bright red so turned car off and today the car wont start.....any ideas what it could be?

I wonder if you melted and plugged it up. If she is plugged, then it is gonna be pretty hard to run the engine.

I would also look at any damage that may have been caused by the cherry bomb - melted wires...

what do you mean by melted and plugged it up? sorry I dont know the mechanic lingo that well and what damage should I look for? im doing this myself cuz my husband is not here to help me currently cause he is in jail so any help would be very appreciative

where would i drain it at and where would i find the valve body? how much transmission fluid should i put back in it and where would i put it in at?

No worries. I should have qualified my statement. When the catalytic converter gets to extreme temperatures, then there is real risk that the material inside can melt into a solid piece of material that will block; see attached pics. If that happens, then the exhaust gases will not be able to exit the engine, which will stop the engine from being a properly operating engine.

is that the front or rear converter? im curious cuz I'm trying to get the front one off right now to hollow it out.....been needing to go to the store all day and asked for a ride and no one responded so im doing it so i can get there but normally my husband would be doing this so I appreciate every bit of information you have given me to help me out
