2014 maxima intermittently has trouble shifting out of park. Haven’t had to use the shift interlock release button yet, but feels like it’s only a matter of time. When it doesn’t shift have been able to pump the brakes a few times and wiggle the shifter a bit to get it to engage. When working I can hear the click in the shifter when pushing the brake, but sometimes no click at all and won’t shift, and also occasionally I can hear it click and quickly click off and won’t shift. brake lights and cruise control work fine.

tried to price a shifter interlock solenoid for it and was told there isn’t one and the whole setup had to be replaced and would run $1100 with parts and labor. I’m definitely not interested in this. Any help would be great.
