2014 Maxima shut off while driving

I have a 2014 Nissan Maxima that completely shut off on me today while going about 45 mph. I had to pull over to the side of the road and I could not get any more power to the car or even get it to crank. I just took it to a mechanic who looked everything over and he says it appears to be some sort of mechanical issue. Has anyone else had any other similar issues or any advice on where to start?

Yep, happened to me once. Was the alternator, but your mechanic must have a reason to think it mechanical. What else did he say?

Agreed. Loss of power, then won't crank. Sounds like the alternator failed, wiped out the battery, and left you stranded. Recharge the battery and test the alternator for proper voltage. Then go from there.
