[Help] 2014 Maxima stalled while driving/ in motion.
Hello all,
Background:
I have a 2014 Maxima SV with 140k kms and all regular services done. I got it used 2 years ago with about 130k kms. The car is in regular usage although about 10-15 kms a day.
The issue:
I had been driving for 30+ minutes, no issues and I came near a speed breaker on a back road. I slowed down and when I accelerated it felt like I lost power. The steering stiffened up and I had to slam on brakes.
The car went into ignition mode with all the dash lights on and the message popped up to press the brake to start the car. Once I put the car in P it started immediately and the car has been running since.
The help:
I don't know what caused this issue. Has this ever happened to you? Should I get this checked out? I only found one forum on an 8th Gen maxima with similar issue but no proper response.

Has it happened to me? Yes once many, many moons ago. It did as yours for a bit, restarted and continued on my may. For me, it was a precursor to an alternator failure that occurred a few months later. But in your case, occurring just after a speed bump, it would be prudent to check your wiring from the alternator and the battery.;;;ensuring all is secure and that your battery is still locked in place.
I had this happen during a very rainy day when the streets were flooded. Ran over a large water puddle and I believe something shorted and led to the same issue you had. Had battery discharging problems for a few years after that before I realized the alternator was bad. I would run some tests on the alternator. See how Chris Fix does it here:
