Car making whistling sound while accelerating
Hi everyone!
My 2017 Nissan Maxima is making a whistling sound only when accelerating at a certain position. I have attached a link to the video of my car.
When pressing on the gas pedal on a scale of 1-10 (1 being lightly pressed, while 10 being pressed to the ground), the noise only occurs when the gas pedal is pressed at about 2 or 3. If pressed harder or lighter than that, there is no noise at all. It also only occurs in Drive, no other gears.
I know for a fact that it is not something like the serpentine belt, brakes, etc. Because this noise only occurs when I accelerate very lightly. It does not occur at any other time. Car idles perfectly and rides perfectly, aside from this annoying sound. Does anyone know what it can be?
Thank you!

Im going to the mechanic tomorrow hopefully they figure out what it is. If not I’ll try having them change my transmission filter I’ve heard that was an issue.
2017 SR same issue since purch.(2021)
Hey there, I know I'm a year late on your thread. My maxima has made the same exact sound (windows down, city street)most noticeable at low speeds as the wind blocks it otherwise. Seriously only happens at 2k-2.5k rpms, or as you mentioned, about 3/10 throttle. Very strange and I've grown to ignore it. Transmission fluid drain and fill at dealer changed nothing except peace of mind regarding the CVTs lifespan.
Car has been to the dealer for only transmission service every 30k, wouldnt step foot in one otherwise, SA told me $1,300 for a control arm with a straight face, like I'm an idiot. Lol

I've had the same noise on my 2017 S since around 2019. I gave up trying to get it fixed a long time ago and it doesn't seem to affect reliability or drivability. Almost seven years in the car is holding up well (fingers crossed).
