Yesterday I had to get my door opened via an inflatable air bag pump because the I couldnt unlock the car via the keyhole as it was frozen and my keyfobs do not work anymore(been like that for couple of years). After getting the door open, the alarms went off but stopped after a few seconds of beeping. I tried to open the trunk via the release latch on the side door but nothing happened (usually I hear a sound of the trunk unlocking). I checked to glove compartment to see if the trunk switch was in the off position, but it was on. (I turned it off then on again but nothing changed). Had to access the trunk by lowering the back seats and pulling the manual switch inside the trunk.

Does anyone know why the trunk release latch isnt working anymore?

Got new aftermarket keyfobs. after programming them, the trunk release latch started to work again.
