2014 Maxima Transmission Valve body Replacement
2014 Maxima Transmission Valve body Replacement
Hello all. My told me the old Maxima (2014) was acting up and not shifting correctly. After a quick test drive it immediately went to limp mode. After getting it back home I put the scanner on it and got the P0746 code. The new valve body for the trans arrived today. I wanted to replace solenoids and stepper motors but hunting them down is a pain and for $60 more I got a whole body. Anyhow, after watching a few videos I started seeing people asking about reprogramming the transmission. There are very mixed answers on this topic. Some said no programming at all. Some said yes all the time. Others said only if you replaced the stepper motor or the "black box with a green harness". I have found this box but do not know the name. So there lies the question. Do these things have to be reprogrammed? If so, can I put some of my old electronics back in to keep from programming?
Any ideas? This is a 2014 Maxima with the 3.5 SV sport package.
Thanks

Hey bro! What's up, I hope you were able to figure out and fix this issue.
I have run into similar situation myself. the car started whining at higher RPMs.. started to cruise in higher RPMs and then later went into limp mode. the whine is now there in Lower RPMs but when I let the car cool down a bit, it starts moving again but eventually stops moving in gear. I know it's something with the CVT and the mechanic suggested to replace the CVT without having a look at it. the oil level seems fine but smells a bit weird. the car moves when its cooled down. What may be the issue? any input will be helpful.
Thanks

Replaced the valve body with a refurb valve body and have basically the same issue. It doesn't go into limp mode now but the cvt slips at take off. It also shutters while putting your foot on the brakes at low speed. Seems like everywhere I've looked the outcome is the same, get a new/rebuilt trans. Now my delima is what to do with the car? Pay someone 5k+ for a trans swap in a car that could only be worth 7k? Do I put 2k into a used trans and swap myself, but have no guarantee that it will work? How do you sell a car as is for 3k?
Decisions.
Decisions.
