2018 Maxima SR Backup Warning??
2018 Maxima SR Backup Warning??
I have a 2018 Nissan Maxima SR Midnight Edition and have a question about the backup camera. When in reverse and getting close to an object I do not get an audible beeping that gets faster when I get closer. Almost every car I have owned has this feature when in reverse. If an object is to my side (cross traffic), I do get an audible warning for this. Does the Nissan Maxima actually have this feature in reverse or are you just supposed to use the colored lines for detection? I thought mine did when I bought it used a few years ago, but don't remember. My wife pointed out the fact that it doesn't beep like her car so now I am not sure whats correct. Next question, if this feature should exist would it be a part of the camera itself on these cars? On my wife's car it was part of camera and I replaced the camera to fix it. Thanks for any help you can provide, mainly a sanity check

I have it in my 19 SL. It can be disabled. You will want to look in the dash menu I believe under Driver Aids. In there you can adjust it on/off and the distance from object before it beeps.
I'm guessing if you have rear cross traffic you have this as well but it is potentially turned off. If by chance you don't locate the option in the dash menu then your car isn't equipped with it.
