Yea, the CAI puts around like 7-8hp to the wheels. After outting mine in, I resetted the ECU too. I noticed a better gain. IMOP, i think its worth every cent next to the Y-pipe.

All you do is disconnect the battery. WHen you install the CAI, you have to remove the battery so its gunna be done either way. The CAI pulls good at high rpms bands. The CAI takes about 2-3 hours depending on how mechanically incline you are. Drilling the 3" hole is the biggest b*tch. Also, you will need to get that tool to cut the 3" hole. Stupid tool costed me $40!

$30 bucks!? Damn you got ripped off. I bought the 3 1/8" hole saw from sears for $15. Most people recommend getting the 3 1/4" hole saw though.

Yep. 17 for the damn 3 1/4" hole cutter. And this required some special bit that had 2 screws to hold down the hole cutter. That damn thing alone costed me about 15 or so. Damn it!

For the bit to hold the hole saw, I just used a bit that I had laying around, it wasn't the greatest, but it's just to keep the hole saw straight. I also used WD-40 to keep everything cutting easy, just kept spraying it on if the cut gave me trouble.

Or.....

Or you can buy a pop charger from JWT, HKS, or Stillen for $100-160 and custom make a heat shield for $5. You'll get nearly the same hp (very debatable if there is any difference at all) for a lot less money and you won't have to cut into your Maxima. The CAI looks cool, but there are more problems associated with it like filters poping off from engine movement, air leaks at the joints, and the ever possible threat of water being sucked in if you're foolish enough to drive thru 8+ inches of water.

ANY SUGGESTIONS?????

Im thinking of CAI as well but I don't want to drill that hole, but my main concern is water...Will the water get in my intake when its raining or there is a pile of water??? and if it will, whats gonna happen?? so whats my best option here?

Do a search for the CAI and water you will find alot of info...

But I like in the Great North West lot O rain and not a problem just do not go into standing water like 7=9" deep it will cause Hydro-Lock aka DEAD ENGINE...

I have never heard of that happening to anyone who follows the above.. the CAI is very well protected from the elements inbetween the fender and the Plastic liner of the wheel well.

I've had my CAI in for about a week now and it has been rainy weather here in NJ. I noticed the filter was little wet but nothing to worry about. Remember, the filter has special oil on it. And remember that oil is somewhat water resistent. I had a Pop charger on before the CAI, there is a difference on power. If you have the facoty fog lights, you have nothing to worry about. I just put a piece of lexan there so water doesnt splash in.
