Horsepower?
In the December '00 issue of sport compact car they test a JWT Turbocharged 2000 Maxima. On their dyno chart it shows that the JWT Maxima put out 232 horsepower and that the stock 2000 Maxima put out 190 horsepower. I thought that the 5th Generation Maxima's came with 222 horsepower stock, that's a pretty big difference. What gives?
Essentially correct.
HP at the crank (or flywheel) is different than HP to the ground... HP at the wheels has to deal with the drivetrain being somewhat inefficient. 190 front wheel hp (fwhp) stock is about what most 5th gen 5-spds have been putting down.
