I have an new issue with the 07 Max. If I start the car for the first time for the day or if it has sat a long time, it will stumble upon startup but still run good, but anytime I start it after the first start, it fires up strong with no stumbling at all. This leads me to believe I’m in the early stages of fuel pressure issues, I dont believe our cars have a fuel pressure regulator as I cant find the part, But if its an fuel pump issue, luckily the pump is easy to change out I believe, any thoughts.

 

If you want to test if the pump is bleeding down, get a fuel pressure gauge and follow procedure for a bleed down test. It should keep a certain PSI of fuel pressure after sitting X hours, if it's below spec it can cause hard starting

 

Yup, that is what I have gone thru twice. At some point it will give up on ya.

 

Thanks for the answers, I’ve had this issue on other cars I have owned, fuel pump is bleeding down too much pressure while the car is off, found a brand new fuel pump online for a great price, Im gonna get this taken care within the next week and a half or so.

Make sure you, or whoever does the work, checks the tank for dirt. You want to get ride of any dirt, so it is not clogging the fuel filter, which impedes flow fuel flow. Fuel has to flow at a specific rate to cool fuel pump. If that is degraded, then the fuel pump, over time, slowly cooks itself and ultimately fails, which is also why it is not a good idea to constantly run the car until it is almost empty.

Thanks, ill make sure to wipe the tank area down when i do the job, i admit, im notorious for running the car below a quarter tank before i fill up lol, ill make sure to get better about that after the new pump goes in.
