Billows of smoke from exhaust

Hello, I own a 2018 Nissan Maxima SV with around 88,000 miles on it. Lately, I've been noticing white smoke coming out of the exhaust. Initially, it was just a puff upon startup, but it progressed to puffs of smoke when making sharp turns and now it produces large clouds of white smoke after almost every turn and then continues heavy for about a quarter mile after. The smoke lingers in a huge puff. I suspect it might be related to acceleration after turning. The smoke has an oil/gas smell. The car has never overheated, and there are no visible leaks. All fluid levels, including coolant, oil, and brake fluid, appear to be stable. No CEL or sludge in system. Possible coolant leak? Btw i just changed my PCV valve.

  • Not yet. Flushed like 5 times and my mechanic still can't find it. Gonna do an engine replacement.

I’m stumped

I really don’t want to have to put a new engine but it’s all pointing to that. Good luck!

Have them do a coolant exhaust detection test where they hook up a liquid sampler to your coolant to check for exhaust gases. That will confirm a blown head gasket (s).. Also check oil for murky condition
If that comes back negative I just drive the car and run some fuel injector cleaner then continue to monitor fluid levels

Certain incline park then remote start, I would notice a 2 second blue from the tail. But I was more so noticing after a DIY resealing the oil pan that was sweat-leaking. I believe I added too much sealant at the time. Also reused the oil since it was less than 500 miles new.

Then added an Advance Auto pour into the engine (can’t recall name) that is supposed to eliminate the 2-sec puffs. No change.

did my 5k miles oil change months later and don’t see the puffs anymore.

I understand white and blue indicate different symptoms, but if yours is thick and continuous, more in-depth testing required.

GL and keep us posted.

So in my situation, the previous owner did not take good care of my car. The issue was oil sludge and a simple flush didn't do. I flushed like 4 times. This issue had me take it to Nissan and they did a full cleaning. Cost $1K but it was worth it. Runs perfectly now.
