I had a broken serpentine belt and went to replace it today and tested everything the belt touches and the AC compressor was locked up. I have not messed with an AC before and am worried the repair may a little beyond me but I am watching more videos to try to get comfortable with the procedure. I think I could just connect the crankshaft directly to the alternator and bypass the AC. I have attached the shop manual pic and put the new path of the belt in red. Has anyone tried this or know of an idea why it would or would not work. If you have done it do your remember the belt you use? Thanks for any help you can give. Skip the AC
