Cvt problems

Hi all I have a 2014 Nissan Maxima s and it has the CVT. Before I got the car apparently it had a blown head gasket that got fixed due to the car overheating. Now the transmission feels like its slipping but the transmission fluid smells burnt and has never been changed in 107k miles. Do you all think I should just change the fluid and the filter and it would fix it or could it be the shift solenoid. It still shifts smooth but when accelerating it feels jumpy. Thanks in advance

Replace the valve body.
Replace the fluids.
Install a heavy duty transmission cooler

Also keep in mind that CVT transmissions
Don't actually shift.

But. Anyways , the transmission cooler

Is the most important component
In this chain of responsibility

Is there a way to check the valve body

Check Valve Body

If you're getting DTC's that have solenoid
Or Stepper motor in it

THose are components that are located
on the Valve Body.. I would say that's a pretty good indicator that you're Valve
Body is in trouble.

Also. If you replace the Valve Body.

DO NOT replace it with a used one.
Buy a new one. I bought a new VB off
the Bay for $189.00 shipping+ Tax included.

Who knows what the price is now after tariffs.

TCM codes

Those codes are are coming from the
TCM (Transmission Control Module)

Invest in a Bluetooth OBDII scanner
for around $45.00 and the CVTZ50
App $&5.97.

That will give you some excellent information on the state of your CVT

Sorry I meant I have no check engine codes and when I hook a scanner up to it I don't see any underlying codes either

No codes ?

if you're getting no DTC codes and your CVT is jumping and slipping, if the fluid
level on the dip stick is where it's supposed to be.

Then. The problem is mechanical.

The only thing you can do at this point is
Replace the fluid and filter, and hope for the best.

By this, do you mean you scanned the TCM?
