Spark Plug Replacement
Spark Plug Replacement
At 108,000 miles, I figure I should replace the spark plugs on my 16. I ordered DENSO Iridium FXE22HR11, anti-seize, and dielectric grease. I hope to reuse my intake manifold gasket; most seem to be able to. A search did not result in too many detailed results. If there is anything I should know going into this, I would appreciate the comments. I plan on following the below video:

I've been a few times around the track with autos as well, but after looking at this video I think I'm going to run my plugs until they start misfiring or something. Maybe 150 to 200,000 mi if my 80,000 mi 2017 makes it that far before I get another. This has been the sweetest most trouble-free car I've ever owned. Just oil, filters, tires and brakes. 27.5 around town, 34.5 highway. Uses absolutely no oil in 8,000 mi oil changes.
i have diagnosed and repaired many misfires over the years by simply cleaning anti-seize off spark plug threads. also....

note the bold text. i have also come across this multiple times. most recently on a honda acty (yesterday) blown out spark plug. other 2 plugs had anti-seize on them and were working their way loose.

if you choose to use it and you use a torque wrench to install youll want to torque a bit under spec. generally 20-30%

Should I apply grease to the spark plug thread?
If a thread lubricant such as grease is coated on the thread, tightening of the spark plug increases when applying the same torque; this can cause damage to the spark plug. Subsequently, vibrations may cause the plug to come loose. Because of this, DENSO recommends not using a thread lubricant.
Only in a few exceptional cases (such as with some LPG-powered forklifts) may a small amount of grease be required. In such cases, the spark plug will be supplied pre-lubricated.

I did my spark plugs at 105,000 and when I removed the coil packs the rubber boot was soaked with oil at the back driver side spark plug hole. Just giving you a heads up you might need to replace the valve cover gasket.. also while you're in there I would replace the back three ignition coil packs and the pcv valve. Then you no longer have to worry about an ignition coil going out or a bad PCV valve do it while you're in there.
The surgery is not hard, it’s paying attention to details. Did a total surgery replacing the valve covers, plugs etc earlier this year on th ‘17, and comparing to my 2011 (375k @ 3 x spark plug replacements), it falls in the same category level.
study the vid, tool-up, and for your first go, expect about 3 hours max.

I got the iridium FXE22HR11, I should not change the gap, right? I hope they are .043 from the factory but I could not find the pre-set gap dimension anywhere.
I just got another spark plug replacement completed through the dealer. It cost $823.14 to get them replaced (price includes a $75 coupon). I'm at 218,500 miles on my Maxima. The car runs perfect, and i have no issues with it. Looking to keep it another year Max!
Just thought I would update the thread. I got them all done, following the video, and it was not bad. Just take your time removing things and putting them back. It was a pretty easy process, just took a few hours. Here's to another 100k...
