Pioneer DEH-P7400MP
Pioneer DEH-P7400MP
I've had my pioneer DEH-445 (basic CD player) in my car for a while and just wanted something different. I looked at the AIWA MP32 for a while but heard bad things about it and it's specs sucked.
I found this DEH-P7400MP on ebay for $249 and it was local so I could pick it up. Auction ended last Wed but they didn't get their new shipment of units in til yesterday. I got it last night and hooked up all the wiring and installed it today. I also installed a cupholder which I bought from some guy off ebay for $15. With my old cd player, I had the older fold down tray for it. I like the cupholder tray better and I have a carbon fiber piece for it
This unit plays cd and mp3 encoded discs. There is a little more delay compared to a regular CD but it's not that bad at all. It has all kinds of weird "screen savers" too that are pretty neat. It's the 2k2 model and not really in stores yet but available online at some places. The new 8400 is really cool but too much extra, it's not out yet and it's all silver which wouldn't match my car

Here are the specs:
22 watts RMS/50 watts peak x 4 channels
CD frequency response 5-20,000 Hz
CD signal-to-noise ratio 94 dB
FM sensitivity 9 dBf

I got it from Matt's old 93GXE parts car. I haven't decided what to wire it up to yet but I'll do something eventually. I can always pretend too.
-> POWER
vrooooooooooom
looks better than the blank panel at least
good NOS switch

alpine is nice too but I like the look of this one better and it's out now
man id kill for one of those right now but im holding off because I already have a pretty nice head unit in my max and im about to sell it.. I dont want to have to sell it with the mp3 player in it so im just going to wait until I sell it and buy a 4th gen
Craig, I've always liked the Pioneer decks. Especially the Premier series. That setup looks very nice with the CF dash kit. I have a Kenwood setup myself which I love. My deck is the KRC-807 2000 model. Its 2 years old, but it still looks pretty new and the MASK revolving face Ownz me!
22w x 4 RMS full logic cassette. I went through hell for months trying to find that cupholder tray and I finally found one for $5. I had it in there for about a month, then I ended up getting an add on CD player. It was a toss up between music and a place to rest my coffee.

The only problem with this setup is that the two decks have different depths so the CD player sticks out a little. I wonder what I have to do about the brackets the hold the radio together. Maybe I need to make custom brackets for them to fit right. But for now, Im leaving it like this until it gets warmer to do more to the car. Tell me what you think.

your link isn't working, it's forbidden (no access)
I know atulb84 would really like your cupholder tray if you're willing to sell. PM him if you dont mind.
I wasn't able to get the stock brackets off my bose doubledin when I first replaced it with my pioneer 445. I just made a few measurements and made my own brackets out of scrap metal. It was really easy and works great, you can then drill holes whereever you want to move stuff around
here's a pic of mine, you may have to cut and paste because its geocities

Here, try this...sorry about that.

I dont know if I am selling the cup holder tray yet, because I may be changing my decks again to put it back in. But if I do decide to part with it, hes got first dibs. Besides, I have it painted Grey metallic to accent the my dash trim.
The custom bracket is a great idea. I think that in the spring/summer, I'll be able to get a lot more done. Im not sure what kind of tools Im gonna need, but I'll just check out your site.

You can get a brand new Pioneer 7400MP for 225 at many places online now. I know, I bought mine three weeks ago from carstereoexpo for like 235 three weeks ago, before most places even got it in, I'm actually getting it installed tomorrow....I can't wait. I'll let you guys know what I think later.
