Sunroof drainage....

My sunroof leaks water into the interior of the
car when it rains and I was told that the
drainage tubes need to be cleaned/aired out
because they could be clogged.

Is there an easy procedure to clean out the
drainage tubes without having to take the car
to a shop ?

I just bought the car, and the area around the
sunroof on the inside shows signs of various water stains as a result of past leaks.
It is a cloth interior.

Thanks...

Hey, I had that problem for the longest time. It drove me CRAZY! What you do is open up the sunroof and jam a wire coat hanger down there. Get it? Take apart the coat hanger and make it one long wire, and stick it down the toobs that are on the front right and front left corner of the sunroof (they are the drain tubes). It also helps if you put some water over them that way you can see if they are draining or not.

Sorry if my writings a little jumbled, its to late for me to write. Argh.

Please dont jamb a coat hanger down the drain tube!!!! Its plastic also you can risk knocking it off the sunroof tray. Easy way. open sunroof, take an air blower, and blow down into the tubes. then take a cup full of water and pour it into the tray.(near the drain) make sure it drains out of the body (front fender area) Also make sure the lower part of the fender isnt smashed into the body (happens when the car is lifted from the fenders) Also there are 2 more drain tubes in the rear. Open the trunk pull the finishers out on the left and right sides. (sides, spare tire area) You will find a plastic tube that runs into the lower rear quater panel. this tube drains the sunroof as well as the antenna, (on the right side. Make sure the tubes are clear, and try tilting the front of the car upward. pour water into the sunroof tray and see if water comes out. If you dont have an air compressor, stop into a local shop and see if they will let you use there air hose and blower. Good luck!!! Superwrench77
