Knock Sensor code tripped for about the 10th time and after reading about the negative effects of a malfunctioning knock sensor, Ive decided to get a replacement. I own the Haynes Manual however the pictures for identifying the Knock Sensor arent too good. I took some pics today and Im just wondering if my idea of the Knock sensor is correct.

It's the green thing in the middle of all of the pics.

I don't think that is it.

That is too easy to get to and the manual says the intake manifold has to be removed to get to it so I think it is the orange connector in your picture #2.

It's about midway under the upper intake manifold down in the valley.

I've heard if you have really small hands and a ratcheting 10mm or 12mm (read of both sizes) you can get to it without removing the intake.

Look on picture 13.10 on Haynes. That is the knock sensor. It's right between the cylinder banks under the intake manifold collector.

 

Look for a bolt there that has a 12mm head on it. Thats the size it takes to get it off. Also it looks like a top (the toy kind) from what I have read on here.

That's not it. Straddle the drivers' side fender, look at the intake manifold, now follow the shape of the V, and right in the middle of the bottom is the knock sensor. It is the only sensor around there that has a wiring harness attached to it (similar to the wiring harness that is on the injectors). Good luck.

look at picture 1 you will see a red connecter (hard to see low light) it is to the left of the green subharness in your pic, under the intkae manifold. i had to remove the intake manifold when i changed mine.

 

Geez, is this waht I have to look foward to when changing mine? I bet it's worth it.

I found it, but that thing is down there. It looks "possible" to get the bolt out, I hope it's as easy as some people have said it was.

From doing searches, the only difference between my situation and others is that Im am not only getting code 0304 (Knock Sensor), Im also getting 0303 which is front left heated O2 sensor. Searches have said that an O2 sensor error will also cause the KS error to show. Is it possible that my KS isnt faulty at all?

Im going to replace my KS just because my power problems are consistent with others, not to mention track times.
