Can someone post instructions for how to replace driver's side mirror? (1998 GXE)

My girlfriend managed to demolish my driver's side mirror... in anticipation of buying a second hand replacement, can someone please post instructions from some uber-manual about how to replace one of these things? Is it feasible to do it one's self?

Thanks!

- Andrew

PS - here's a photo for the damage junkies.

Step 1 - Remove interior door panel. (http://carstereohelp.com/stereoremovalNisMaxFSpk01.htm)
Step 2 - Carefully pry up the plastic cover.
Step 3 - Remove the sail trim panel
Step 4 - Disconnect electrical harness (if applicable)
Step 5 - Remove the mirror attaching screws (there should be 3 of them), then carefully pull the mirror from the door

The installation is self-explanatory. Good luck.

are you sure you can't remove the mirrors just by undoing the screws behind that triangle shaped piece on the inside?

Good point Nick. Now that I look at it I believe you can. The Chilton must be referring to the 3rd Gen procedure. Andrew I would try removing the triangle shaped cover on the interior of the door first. If it is not attached or held down by the door panel you'll have a lot less work to do. Sorry if I mislead you.

Just check out the easy possibility first

Thanks guys, that would indeed be a lot easier.

On the plus side, it turns out that only the supporting plastic is damaged, not the coloured portion of the mirror assembly. So when I get my mis-coloured replacement I can just swap out the pieces and not bother having to repaint.

I'll let you know how it turns out...
