Attention those who have done the BMW conversion themselves
i just got a pair for $105 off of a 97 M3,hopin theyre in good shape..but i searched a little on this and it SEEMS like a pretty straight foward install,i do alot of my own work and would prefer to do this, but i dont wanna run the risk of messing anything up...anyone who has done this themselves with directions they got here on the org.? if so would you say its a do-it-yourselfer or take it to a body shop?and 1 more thing,i know theres a bunch of rewires for the lights,is there any that i can keep my turn signals on fulltime with the headlights but they blink when i hit the signal, any help with any of this would be appreciated
i don't have a write up on the 3 series install but i do have a wiring diagram for the thing you mentioned with the turn signals. I think it's on my other computer. I'll have to check because I can't find it right now. EMail me or something.
Re: Attention those who have done the BMW conversion themselves
sorry, never done the bmw thing, but i'd think you should go ahead and do it yourself, just take time. i mean no one at the body shop you go to will probably have ever done this either, so you might as well make sure it's done right. and the turn signal...you could buy a 1157 socket to replace the 1156 that's in there. this would hold a 2 filament bulb. then wire one + to the parking lights or headlights so it's always on with those, and the second + for the other filament to the original turn signal + wire. this way with the lights on it will be on and when you put the turn signal on it wil blink brighter. and with the lights off it will still blink. i've been thinking of doing this? anyone have input on what they think it will look like, or how they'd like it?
Find Craig's site and go to his LINKS page. He has 2 links to detailed writeups on how to do the BMW conversion yourself. Good luck!
Kingston: Saw a couple pics of your conversion earlier today (yesterday?). Good job! They look great.

i have a rotary disc cutter. that seems to cut easily, thru our thing metal.. a dremel would seem like it would give you a hard time
if you have a air compressor.. use a disc cutter
if not.. then buy a disc cutter. and try using it on a electric drill
