Does the exta .25 really matter?

I bought 4 qts of mobil 1 fully synthetic and was wondering if the extra quarter would really make a significant difference in performance and if it would cut down on the time I have until my next oil change? Thanks ahead

are you sure it was full synthetic?

because thats way more than a quarter more per bottle compared to regular oil.

Im sorry if I phrased that wrong, I meant the extra quarter of oil because our engines hold 4.25 qts I believe and I only bought 4 and as you said another bottle is way more than a quarter. Unless Im wrong and we can hold more than 4.25. I just dont want to have to buy another qt because im broke.

Im pretty sure our engines only hold 4.25 qts but you can always check your owners manual or haynes, chilton manual and correct me if Im wrong.

Our engines need 4.25 quarts.

And there's no rule of thumb relating number of cylinders to oil capacity.

Yeah, my F20a (2.0L I4 in the S2000) holds 5.9 quarts of oil. At 9000rpm, you can really move some oil in a hurry.

My dipstick SUCKS A$$!!! lol I can't ever tell how much oil is in my car no matter how long I let it sit... It is way to high on one side, and not at all on the other. I got a lemon for a dipstick

yea i think all VQ dipsticks suck...what we do is put the dipstick all the way in then IMMEDIATELY pull it out, usally get a more accurate reading that way. remember to start te car and shut off for awhile before checking your oil level after an oil change.

I really got a kick from your post. My kids heard my laughter from across the hall. My thoughts exactly reagarding the dipstick! Anyway the engine holds 4.25 qts but I have had no problem with using 4 qts. The important thing is to keep the level between the low and high marks on the dipstick and change it regularly along with a nissan (preferably) oil filter. Fig 150 (page 1-38) of the Chilton manual shows the correct reading of the dipstick. My Haynes manual (better than Chilton IMO) is in the car so I couldnt review it for you.
