Cleaning fuel injectors

I want to flush my fuel injectors on my '92 VG, and I'd like some advice. My car is getting lousy mileage after the tune-up, so I'm hoping this might help.
1. Is there a way to check if they're dirty? (spray pattern)
2. What product works best
3. How do I go about doing this, I assume there is a connection somewhere along the fuel rail.
4. If the injectors are sticking pen, will a flush cure this.
Any help would be appreciated.

I just added some STP fuel injector cleaner this weekend. It seems to be helping no huge difference though. What you do is dump the full bottle into a full tank of gas, or dump it in and then fill it full. One way to tell if you have a bad injector is to get a stethoscope and listen to each one by touching it on every injector. You can't really look inside the engine to see the injectors spraying. Good Luck

RE: low mileage

How many miles do you have on your car?
You might want to check your coolant temperature sensor and oxygen sensor. When those bad boys break down, the whole engine is a little screwed up because it doesn't know how much gas to use.

It has 90k miles. I just replaced the 02 sensor. How do I check the temp sensor? (ohm meter I guess)The fuel injector cleaner I'm thinking of is the kind that you get at the dealerships, not the stuff you add to the gas tank.

it's not something you can buy off the shelf....there are special equipment you need to buy and cleaning fluids. BTW the equipment costs over $400 bucks.

Hmm...I don' tthink the fuel injector cleaner will help much. There's a device that could detect if your coolant temp sensor is going bad. You might have to do it at the shop. On my car, my fuel injectors were leaking. I had my mechanics replaced the valve seals. You should also check your car manual and see if you have to replace any old worned out parts. One thing I learned is that you have to add the right amount of water with the coolant. If you don't, it will screw up the coolant temperature sensor.

Fuel Injector cleaner...

I have used the Chevron brand of fuel injector cleaners with Techron and would recommend using them. I can actually FEEL a difference in responsiveness after using this product. I have also used the STP brand of fuel injector cleaner without noticing any difference in responsiveness. I have about 150K miles on my 89SE and I just recently had a tune up(NGK V-Power plugs)/timing advance(18-degrees) done as well.

My uncle recommended the use of DuraLube's fuel system cleaner, but I have not yet tried it. BTW - if your gas mileage is suffering, make sure that your tire pressure is correct, you'd be surprised at how significant tire pressure influences gas mileage. I've also heard that cleaning the TB will increase gas mileage too, but I didn't notice much of a difference when I tried cleaning my TB the first time (but then I may not have done such a good job of it). Good luck!

If you want to go full bore, send them out to RC Engineering to be cleaned and flow ballanced.

Hot damn!

there is a company called BG. they are absolutely the best you can do for a home mechanic. http://www.bgprod.com/ If you're just looking to use the gas additive, remember to check for leaks beforehand, use in a full tank, and change your oil when the tank is through. The stuff's strong and it works. I've read in several other boards and this's what the hard core guys do.

If you want to skip that, take your injectors out and bring them to a shop to have them sonically cleaned. They will submerge your injectors in a cleaning solution, then send ultrasonic pulses through so the particles fall off. Costs $20 for a set of injectors. Call some local garages to find out there they get their injectors cleaned.
