If your clutch is slipping...
it would be just the opposite. The tach would move, but not the speedo. When mine first started to go, it was almost like I was spinning tires a little, but I wasn't. If that makes any sense...
It would be like the car is in Park or Neutral. When you hit the gas, the engine makes noise and the tach needle goes up but you don't move (or don't move as much as you should).
If it actually happened to you, you would know that something just wasn't right!

well...my MPH VS RPM is normal..so no slip...
I don't think I want any 1k fix on my car down the line before I get out of grad school and start my job.
Sometime I am just a bit heavy footed cause my car likes to down shift and at times i have MPH gain with no RPM gain.
So I wonder..is my clutch going bad.
I don't mind my car shifting down by itself when I try to accelerate =D
I think that is good that my ecu knows that I need torque/hp without me manually shift down
heheheheheh
but gaining MPH VS RPM..that does....maybe it is because of these pirellis.....my yoko's and standard rim was around 37lb
now with pirellis...42lb or something...
some inertia problem maybe?.....makes me wanna save up and buy a tire+rim combo that weighs below 30lb.
oh darn...that is probably why I am still stuck with stock rims.....

Doh...
Ok...
it is probably because of my ignorance with cars that makes me created this question
arghh..i am getting confused......
*raise big flag with big letters I AM A DUMMY*
ok..I guess I need to know about autotrans 101
What makes an auto trans?
we have clucthes, flywheel, gear in manual....
don't we have those in auto?
I think I am gonna dig up books and read about this...darn it...did not mean to ask a pointless question...
man I feel bad and dumb...doh......

fyi
even though u have an auto., u know ur clutch is really shot when u excellerated in third gear and ur rpm's just go up and u don't go anywhere, try to race a mustang and u excellerate and he flys by u.and u think ur tires are spinning but ur clutch is spinning.hahaha
