I know this is a newbie question, but a buddy of mine buys cars with the back ends wrecked and sells them out. He has access to a both of these engines. Anyone know how hard it is to do something like this?

 

Speed cost money, how fast do you want to go? It could work in theory with a lot of money, unless you are willing to invest in that kind of cash, its impractical imo.

 

I think (and I'm not 100%) that you will have a much easier time with a motor from an old 300Z single turbo. mmm turbo..

 

Hmm complete wire harness removal, new ecu, fabricating a 3rd motor mount and possibly having to make custom drive axles. This project will cost you $4k and gain you only 30hp tops. Where as you can buy a VG-T for $500-1000 and reuse all of your orginal parts.

only ~4k?! That's like the 1st and 2nd gen Altima guys talking about putting a sr20det in there for the same price and getting 30hp. I say research it if you've got $5000+, just to see what's involved. If you do get the swap, you'll be ranked pretty high in my book.

can I ask how much of your heart will go into the project? Are you gonna do everything hands on or u gonna let a shop do the work? Are you willing to do the research?
What I'm getting at is, I really want to say "yes" do it cuz nobody else has done it before. Not only will you be happy as heck w/a pretty new engine, u get plenty of power...not bad for 5k.

30hp tops?? the 02 motor has 256hp 6sp manual...thats almost 100 more than the vg and almost 70 more than the ve....

 

with that money......i would make the VG-TT hellzz yeaaaaaaaa lol

 

VG-TT is probably not a realableGo for it if u can get the engine and tranny cheap I would

 

just a second thought...when i dropped the VG-TT in my max i had insane torque steer. i had to get an all wheel drive system off of a wrx to make the car even drivable.

 

the 6spd makes about 205 to the wheels.....the VE makes about 160 to the wheels.....so figure in about a 40-45hp gain! for the prcie its so not worth it!

 

you serious? thats a lot more loss on the 02 compared to the ve..

thats like 50hp to 30hp loss!
