2001 cougar .VS. Cheezer's MAX

ok no one gets hurt in this story just some good racing (beatdown)Ok the other night I raced (my self) to a yellow light hoping for a race. as I pull up there is a purple 2001 cougar.. before I came to a stop i pushed into Neutral and gave a little REVV the guy and his HOT girl friend looked at me and started laughing. So he revved back, the light turned and I blew them away!! They had no chance.. I saw and heard there tires spin so he was racing!….. this goes to show you that just because the car is a 2 door V6 does not mean it is fast… LOL

Uhhh, 2001 cougar (are they all autos?) runs a 16.1 stock.. unless you've got tons of mods, he was either:

1. not racing you
2. REALLY weighed down
3. can't drive worth a damn
4. all of the above.

O.. so he just nodded his head, revved his engine, spun his tires and passed me as soon as I let off the gas. Just to make me feel good ?

I have raced one for real

At the drag strip, he ran a 15.9 to my 15.7. It was a very close race. It looked stock... but so does mine.

On the street this girl wanted to race. She stomped on it and I followed. She couldn't leave me and I couldn't gain on her. The Cougar is very good competition for my car.

Re: whatever!!!!!

cougars come in a 170hp v6, and a 125hp 4-banger, and you can get a stick in both. i think theyre slow as hell. do you know if it was a v6 that you were racing? if not, then theres the answer to why you smoked him. they dont look to light either. they look like boats. not to mention theyre american cars. ford should stick to making muscle cars, not import wannabes.

here's a website for you.

www.car-stats.com

2001 cougar V-6 is 16.0
2000 is 16.2

So either you were racing a 4-banger, or his V6 was really weighed down (or he couldn't drive).

hmmmmmm......as far as I know the autos arent too quick, like SEguy said I've only seen a 16.7-16.6's out of them,(saw one run on sunday with intake, only managed a 16.6 or something like that) but still thats comp for a basically stock VG auto as well!
