Eibachs and Tokiko Blues, first impressions..
Eibachs and Tokiko Blues, first impressions..
First, the lowering from the Eibach ProKit springs (1.3" f, 1.0" r) is just perfect...looks much, MUCH better than stock -particularly with the 17" wheels.
Second, the ride is also much better than stock -amazing, completely unexpected but true..even my wife noticed it.
This definitely confirms that the OEM suspension on the SEs is over-sprung and under-damped, as is the case with the vast majority of Japanese sport suspension setups. The Japanese rely on stiffer springs for ride control whereas the German (and French) automakers keep springs rather soft (comparatively) but make up with excellent damping- particularly on rebound.
Indeed, the Tokico Blues rebound rate (when the shock is extending after the compression stroke) is definitely higher than the OEM shocks, you can tell just by trying to extend the shock after compressing it, even by hand it takes much more force to extend the Tokicos versus the OEM shocks -even with only 4k miles on the original shocks.
Botom line, well worth it...very, VERY pleased with this setup.
FSTB and RSB next month...

Thanks for the information. I think your comment is contrary to many before you. I am going to order the E's and tokikos as soon as the IRS deposits my refund in my account.
zzzzactly where my head's at, no problema
Like I said..I was surprised as hell and yes, my experience is counter to those who affirm H&Rs are softer, then again, not having tried the H&Rs I cant comment on that but certainly, the Eibachs exceeded expectations.
Do keep one thing in mind...I installed this setup on an SE which has stiffer suspension than an GLE or GXE...compared to those setups I would not be surprised to see some degradation in ride qualities with the Eibach/Tokico combo but against the OEM SE suspension...no comparison.
Good luck -Galo

Nix pix, my camera was stolen during my
relocation to the US and I bought the Tokicos at Alamo Motorsports....they're at alamomotorsports.com.
Methinks good prices, I seem to recall around $107 for the fronts and seventy-something for the rears, total was like $375 or something close to that
