Anyone with 17x8 wheels & 245/45 tires?

Hello. I've searched tire info but have not come across any answers. Anybody running this wheel/tire combo? Any problems? Is your car lowered? Thanks!

I belive that is the most common setup (245/45) that people use for the 17's.

Yes, on 8" wide wheels you should be using 235/45/17

17 X 8" Rims should run 235/45/17 tires Not 245/45/17

if you buying brand new tires go for the 235/45zr17 if you are getting a steal-wheel/tire combo (or used) but the tires are 245's then take it. they will fit and you might have a little rub when you turn the wheel full lock.

i have 17x8 wheels and had some (free) 245's on my 3rd gen. drove on those for a while and when they wore out i bought some 235's. i have since then tranplanted the 17x8/235's to my 4th gen. you shouldn't have any problems either way. 245's generally are heavier than 235's and thet extra centimeter of width will not improve your performance that significntly. as far as overall diameter is concearned you will be within acceptable tolerances.

Thanks guys! My concern was to have a nice "fat" looking stance and to protect the wheel lips..."Mom" tends to park by feel now and then. I realize that the difference in tire diameters is about .2 to .4 inches for a 245 over a 235, but I was wondering about rub at full lock. I guess that would be a greater risk if the car is lowered. I plan to do the H&R/AGX combo that seems to be popular.

SuDZ, do you or someone you know personally run the 245's?

DAREN, the wheel/tire combo will be ordered from Tirerack so I still have a choice of tire size.

Thanks again for the input folks.

There was a guy at my school who was. I dont see him any more though (schedules and cra) But I think he said he got it larger for the better ride. Neer drove in it though so could not tell you off hand.

Got the 235/45's

Thanks guys! I got my wheels today. Tirerack had a "closeout" on AT Italia 7200 17x8 wheels. Got 'em with Kumho 712's. Wheels look ok, tires look HUGE! At +35 offset, the front wheels come flush with the fender lip! I'm doing the H&R/AGX combo tomorrow and I'm afraid the front will rub...looks really close. The rears are not as flush with the fender lip...looks funny. Same as everybody elses, right? Anyways, MomzMax is on it's way!

if you want the 245s, you want the 40 aspect ratio, not the 45. Go with the 235/45/17, though.
