My best friend was telling me of this interview that he ran across. It was the head owner of Toyota automobiles when they first decided to bring imports from japan over to the US, no clue what year. Well anyway, he was asked "Well, do you have any repair shops in place, in the U.S. to be able to handle parts and repairs." The japanese man looked confused, he had no clue that American cars repeatedly needed new parts and service performed on them. He responded "We just build our cars so they don't have to be repaired".

Just thought you'd like that.

 

What a great concept.

 

This is partly correct. When Toyota first came to the US, they were known as rust buckets. The cars will rust through and fall apart before any of the parts wore out. Hence, "they don't have to be repaired".

 

Oh if only that were true. Something must have been lost in the translation.
