60k tune-up completed, and Inconsistency in acceleration (automatics)

Well I just got my Minima back from a 60,000 mile tune-up which consisted of:

1)New oil filter
2)New fuel filter
3)new plugs
4)oil change
5)throttle body injection cleaning
6)rotating tires, check pressure
7)check struts
8)Tranny flush and service
9)Exhaust check

And I forget the rest.

Anyways, I was expecting a noticable increase in acceleration, but to my dismay it was the same. Oh well I guess my car wasn't too badly untuned to began with.

To test out my newly tuned car I did a series of acceleration tests. The acceleration was the same as before the tune-up. I also noticed off the line when I floored it, it would lag more than other times when I would floor it off the line(same as before tuneup). This is the inconsistancy that i'm talking about. (besides the occasional refusal of my tranny to downshift).

So basically I would like to ask is it 'not' normal to feel any acceleration changes after a tune-up, and, how many of you auto's know what i'm talkin about regards to the inconsistant acceleration?

It's like sometimes i'm hot, and sometimes im not. I floored it by a 7-11 and my tires barely squeeked and the damn corolla next to me was on my *** for like 2 seconds. The sad thing is I don't think she was flooring it. I did, however, feel my Y-pipe kick in and I started pulling but that lag through the intersection was just plain embarrassing.

That's just one of the reasons i'm getting a 5spd conversion soon.

If your car was in decent condition before a tuneup, you shouldn't deel a thing after a tuneup.

I noticed no difference when I did my tuneup, although I still haven't changed my pcv. The tranny fluid flush/filter change, fuel filter change, sparks change...nothin' was different.

Recently cleaned the TB, but it wasn't really necessary...not much in there.

I haven't noticed much of a difference, the way it should be.

You may have been expecting something you shouldn't have, therefore think something is wrong now?

Good post.

Now that you and Medic say, I realize my car was in fair-good shape to began with, so although it needed that tune-up, the resources I had still had life left to 'em.

I will just have to accept my slow fair weathered auto until I convert to a real tranny

No way bro...

I just had my 60k mile tune-up and the car runs better than ever... even upgraded to NGK Platinum plugs and had my front brake pads replaced/rotors resurfaced (NO MORE SQUEALING!). Very smooth and if anything less inconsistent. This may be phsycological but I think I can chrip my tires easier as well. Engine is quiter and seems to idle a little lower. Definitely an improvement.

D'oh!

Well, it could be that your parts were more severely worn than mine prior to the tune-up. In that instance you could notice a difference.

Medic Where did your thread go Did you delete it ?
