Hey all, I currently have a 96 Nissan Altima and need something faster. I am into Nissan's alot. I am thinking to buy a Maxima maybe 95 or 96 (5speed). Any things i should look out for, anything I should be warned about before i buy it. What are the pros and cons on the Maxi's.

 

Try to get a 97+ Maxima if you're going with a 4th Gen. The 97+'s have much better crash test scores and have improved safety features as well. You'll be very happy with the 5spd regardless though

 

I heard that the 95 or 96 modules have some issues with the starter, not sure...
All the 4th Gens are good but I'll tell you some differences:

-The 95 and 96 look a little different than the 97-99's, they changed the styling a little with the front and rear ends. The 97+ came with a better, stronger bumper.
-The 98+ has a digital odometer/tripometer compared to the analogue one in the 95-97.
-The 98 (I think) came with air bags as an option, only with leather though (SE/GLE).
-The 99 came with a digital Bose stereo system, where the Trebles/Bal and Bass/Fade functions are no longer analogue *****.

One major concern, however, is that many owners develop a lead foot

 

I believe you are talking about the side air bags....

 

Thanx guys. There are alot of mods for the Alti's whats there for the maximas? Wassup with the tails? Can the I30T tails fit the Maximas? ALSO I dont think i can afford a 97 rite now. all i can do it get a 95 or 96. Unless i wait which i cant, ill have to get a 95 or 96. But thanx for the help. also wassup with the mods with Maximas.

 

If you want best overall acceleration, the 95 5-speed has been known to be the fastest year/model out of all Maximas (other than the 2k2). But good luck with whatever you get. No matter which year you end up getting, you will love it.

 

Man u guys are a lil weird from the Altima boys, u a lil more hardcore and u give good advice. the altima guys are cool, dont get me rong but not that supporting. well im in chicago area and soon there is a all out nissan meet. I might be there with the alti or maxi but whatever. Its a Nissan. whats some mods can i do to get more HP besides the boltons, CAI, Exhaust and which one works best for maximas?
