my problem didnt seem to be the alternator
my problem didnt seem to be the alternator
well, i succesfully changed my alternator today(i think), and the problem did not go away. my brake light stays on and the battery light stays on half dimmed. i was sure it was my alternator but after changing it, the problem did not go away. the rpms stay up around 700-800 instead of 600 like it was before, except when i let off the gas and it dips down to like 400 and comes back up almost after dying. does anybody know what could be my problem. thanks in advance
Laly
by the way, i have a dvd player and monitor in my car along with two amps, just in case that has something to do with it.

Just thought I would throw that out there.
Quick fix
Might be to adjust the Throttle position sensor and AAC valve to get the rpm's up. Are the lights on when engine is running 7-800 rpms like it should? Adjust these to get the rpms up and I'd think about cleaning your intake manifold, might be a good idea. Just my 2 cents.
make sure you've got all the wires correctly connected to the alternator, and that nothing has shorted out or anything..
the only timne those two lights should come on together is if the alternator isn't working.
I snapped an alternator belt once when I slid off the road in a snowstorrm and filled the engine bay with snow.. installed new belt and the lights went away.

check this out.
i took it to the dealer. it took them a couple of hours to find a blown fuse in my car because of all the wires i got going to my battery. i picked it up, drove it about 10 ft. off the lot and boom, the same problem.
took it back today. i told them to check the y-pipe because the problem happened the day i installed it. it turns out that the O2 sensor kept shorting because it kept hitting the frame of the car. the place for the O2 sensor doesnt seem to be in the same place on the warpspeed y-pipe as the stock one. has this happened to anyone else. so anyways they charged me for fixing the O2 sensor and putting my stock y-pipe back on. this sucks. i spent all this money because of the y-pipe and i dont even have it installed. this sucks, for real.
