Cold Air Intake is in

I had received my CAI about 2 months ago and i finilly had the time to work on placing it in. It was hell. The pipe was not sitting in and i was getting very ****ed. but then i made the hole bigger intill it finnaly fit. It sounds good, and i don't know if it is any faster. It feels like it but i have to time it to make sure. But one thing is for sure, if ur getting one do not cut were indicated by the tamplet cut about 2 inches twardes the front of the car.

Yeah I had this same problem, Now the pipe sits slightly at an angle. I need to get it back out and make the hole larger. But that is going to be hard considering how much I may have to shave.

I give this thread 35mins before "someone" from Frankencar comes in here to "promote" their supposedly "cold air" intake.

Bet on it.

I also had to make the whole bigger, when I called them they said I had the 99 template,,, hello now you tell me after i have a fricking hole the size of a bowling ball(not literally it feels that big). You should call them, and tell them of the mistake, and see what they tell you. Bernie

Some people have been saying that the 2000 maxima template is wrong. I am am starting to believe it, cause I made the hole according to the template and it still dont fit "perfect" I think I am going to have to make it even larger.

Yeah it said 2000 MAXIMA on the template. The battery bolts matched up. Just the hole is incorrect.

2inches is alot. Did the pipe clear everything just fine? I think I "enlarged" mine about 1/2" more toward the wheel well. Basically so we dont have any confusion, more toward the rear of the car if you were looking straight at the engine from the front of the car. I dont think making the hole closer to the front of the bumper is going to make it fit. Just then it get too close to the battery and to a point where the battery is not going to fit nor the battery plate.

Maybe i was not clear. The pipe didt't fit because it was gitting the fender. By moving it twards the front, it the filter was sitting clear from whats around it. If not 2 In it was one and a half. But it is sitting perfect now. When i get my camera im gona post the pics if u want.

For mine, if your looking from in front of the engine(standing) my hole had to go back(up towards the windshield) about 1.5 inch, and the white box that held the wires would not fit so we taped them up really well, under the black box(fuse), my hole now is about 4-5 inches round, because of the fit, not being correct,,ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I was so mad

Your hole should only need to be 3 1/4.

I agree but that only applies IF AND IF the hole was drilled in the right location. If not, then you hole will be oblonged and larger than normal.

Well defetely remove the battery and all that good stuff. I would say put the template down and then drill the hole 1" closer to the rear of the car. So just shift it a bit. Cause I used the correct template and it still did not fit correctly

I was following pioneers install and he had no problem. Did you put the coupler all the way on the MAF sensor like this.

That is the only place you can put the MAF sensor. But you notice how far his hole is from the screw hole just on the left of the pipe? Look at the pipe where the pipe going into the hole. Then look directly left about i say 2" (no actually 2" on the picture, inside the picture. You see how far that screw hole is, just make yours similar to that before drilling.
