2K2 Audio system - Nissans Web Site oversells features

Has anyone else noticed that on the NissanDriven.com web site that it lists Radio Data System as standard on all 3 models of the Maxima.

http://www.nissandriven.com/vehicles...0360||,00.html (click on the audio link)

How many of you actually have the RDS features in your car? This does not include you Bose people.

The Owners manual shows a Type A and a Type B audio system, but mine seems to be a hybrid as I have what appears to be a type A system, but it has the SCV (funky speed/volume) option too.

I spent a while trying to find and set up the RDS feature as it can be useful and eventually found out that the Nissan website had misled me.

I know that they give their usual disclosure that the can change what theell they like on their vehicles, but surely they should not be advertising features that do not exist. Isn't that false advertising?

Maybe some of the Nissan employees can chip in here? I'm thinking of challenging Nissan on this and was wondering if it even worth bothering with.

It would probably cost less money to replace your shiety system than to take on nissan over something so mundane...

Oh I will be swapping it out as soon as I get some more pennies together, but in the meantime it would be nice if they had just delivered what they said it should be. Maybe I should check under the hood in case they only put in the Altima 2.5 engine. Afterall, that is also an inferior part that they could just slip in under their site disclaimer as an acceptable change. I know that this is exaggerating, but the principle is the same.

It's not so much the fact that they put a poorer version of the audio system........ well actually that is exactly the reason I'm a little ****ed. You normally assume that if they swap out a piece of equipment that it is of equal or greater value or use, whereas in this case it is not.

Well, I went ahead and sent an email to Nissan to see what they have to say.

Even if they just change their website to give the correct information it will be better than nothing, so that it doesn't mislead new buyers.

steering-wheel buttons

Hey guys, quick question. Do you think it's possible to keep the steering wheel controls for the radio with an aftermarket headunit? I work at Circuit City so I get car audio stuff for dirt cheap so I really want to change it. I have a 2002 SE AUTOMAGIC with the base six-speaker stereo. thanks

doubt it, unless the new head unit specifically supports it. I've seen some aftermarket stereos, however, with wireless steering controls. Probably won't have that OEM look & feel though....

Check out this toy at Crutchfield

The aftermarket does need to have a remote (infra-red, I think) for this to work though.

Let me know if you go ahead with this and if it is OK.
