Got walked by a Prelude...

I was on the way into work this morning, going through a fun set of turns when I see a possible 2k prelude carving the turns as well. It was obivous that there was some work done like fat exhaust, lowered, and very clean, not ricey at all. Anyway coming out of the last turn we stand on the gas and I jump ahead by half a car(the automagic decided to downshift for me) and then he brings the pain. He walked the dog on me, not like a flyby, but I was expecting breakfast and inturn I was dessert. I just thought that I should have been able to take him. If he was stock should this have been true. The guy was an A$$H0LE boot. He wouldn't look over or anything. How well, I think next time I'll race him for titles and just run his A$$ off the road from the start and then think about fixing my new car

My Mods are JWT Popcharger, Cattman Y-pipe, Mobil1(5HP), lowered by Maxspeed, FSTB, RSB.

This past saturday I just raced my friend's 2000 prelude, his got pulley, header, exhaust, and intake. We only raced up to 60 (from 0)
I started half a car behind him, and ended up a car in front of him by the 2nd gear (60mph) I have automagic

Your running a 2K2 so you'd definitely have him for dessert

I only have a 2K1. I hope he had alot of work done. That would make me feel better.

I will venture to say he was using happy gas. For him to walk out on you he had to have something. The other option is S/C or Turbo. I would imagine you would here the BOV at some point though, unless you had music on or something. Either way he had to have some sort of power adder, I can't image him walking you down so easiley after you just jumped in front of him.

That thing must have been modded because autotragic, or not that shouldn't happen! My mom has a 98 camry V6 and while I will give it a little credit that POS has nothing on a max.

I don't think its necessary for a Prelude to have nitrous just to outrun a 2k+ auto. I ran a 5th Gen 5spd Max yesterday to 60 and he never pulled an inch on me. He got a 1/2 a car length on the launch but couldn't get his door past my hood.

BTW, this driver was an ***. The 4 lane road merges into a 2 lane roughly 3-400 ft from the intersection and there's enough room to race to about 60 before backing off. Of course he refused to back down and almost ran me into the oncoming lane. Since I was trying to avoid him, I hit the rev limiter and he barely pulled past me. Before this, he started tailing the hell out of me b/c I sped up to keep an Avalon from passing me. If anybody knows who drives a black 2K SE w/ what appeared to be polished ADR Reaction or some other similar wheels, please tell him good race but learn when to slow down.

I hate people that get into races with you but will do anything to win. One time I raced this Legend, I was on the left lane and he on the right. I had a slight lead and we were closing in on a car in his lane. As he got behind the other car this fool decides to use the shoulder to get around the car! He's an idiot because I still won despite his antics. I mean winning is great but you will lose sometimes. Just take it like a man.

Well I know stock 00/01's have a higher trap speed than 5spd Preludes, 94 for the Max and like 90 for the lude.

You are have point, I just like calling the Camry a POS I don't hate them completely, Toyota makes some nice stuff! However, they don't compare with the max from a performance standpoint, especially an SE w/ a intake and y pipe.

A 2k Prelude has:
Horsepower: 200hp @ 7000 rpm
Torque: 156ft-lbs. @ 5250 rpm
Weight: 2954 lbs.

A 2K Max has:
Horsepower: 222hp @ 6400 rpm
Torque: 217ft-lbs. @ 4000 rpm
Weight: 3199 lbs.

With the weight difference... stock vs. stock should be pretty even. If you were both modded, with equal mods, and u a automagic and him a 5 speed, he may be able to walk you. How much did he pull u by? There are alot more bolt-ons for that Prelude then we have for the Max. Maybe he had more mods then u did? If he had NOS... he would have flown by u. I don't mean to talk down on the Max, but it's just reality.

Stock Prelude 5spd CAN run a 14.99999 bone stock, but in my experience only 1 out of every 50 drivers can do that with a stellar launch. With my mods (when I had them), I was able to hit a 14.43 and was considered the fastest bolt-ons only 5th gen 5spd out there. Most guys with similar mods are still in the 15s with crappy launches. My bone stock 2K2 will kill that.....hahhahaha. Still love the Prelude though

He didnt fly by me. It probably took him 2-3 seconds for him to pass me. He literally only walked by.

as soon as i get mine, i was planning on doing a full port and polish on the intake manifold and exhaust manifold. take the heads and polish and add a 5-angle valve job. cold air intake, underdrive pulley, RT cat, greddy exhaust. and when Supercharger is pffered for the 2002, i'll be set in performance.

soon, i am going to start my own anodizing and plating. so i will anodize my whole engine compartment.

Why does it only happen to me. People only want to race after they see I have 4 or 5 people in the car. Espically the Preludes. Dont really care butwhen im alone they seem to leave me alone.

I have a question for you. My bf drove his friends RSX TypeS and said it felt slow but when he pushed it harder into higher rpm or something he said that is when he felt it kick. He likes the car but said the older Integra body with the new engine would be better. My question why does it have to be at a higher rpm or what the hell is he talking about.

when your bf pushes the rpm to over 6000, the i-vtec kicks in and the engine would pull much much harder than below 6000.. and if you have a vtec engine in your civic, try floor the gas petal all the way down until red line and you will definitely tell the difference..
he shouldn't feel the rsx-s is slow cuz it really out perform integras.. wether people like the older dc2 chasis or the new dc5 chasis is really depend on personal tastes.. i got no comment on that..
ultimately rsx is just another integra.
