Stillen + Frankencar Intake

I was just wondering why people have the Frankencar piping and connectors and use a Stillen for the filter...

Does Stillen use K&N Filters? What is different when using the Stillens instead of the one that comes from Frankencar... Looks?

Yes, both Stillen and Frankencar intakes use K&N filters. The difference is that Stillen hooks up to the stock setup on the car; where Frankencar replaces the wrinkled looking plastic in front and behind the MAF(Mass Airflow Sensor with smooth round plastic which in theory should give you more horsepower than Stillen would. Hope this answers your qestions.

What I actually meant was why do people use both... Like on the frankencar website the filter on the end says "Stillen".

And a few people have "Frankencar Piping + Stillen Intake" listed... Kinda weird.

what happened is people bought the stillen when it first came out and then i started up frankencar. SO i sold them just the midsection with connectors and they can still use thier stillen intake. Emax did see a dynoed gain with the midsection along with much better sound. The only reason people end up with that setup is because they already had a stillen/jwt and i sold them the ram section.

The Frankencar/Berk intakes do NOT have the "Velocity Stack"(Venturi piece the K&N mounts on) that $tealin/JWT POP intakes use. However, that's another reason why they are less expensive.

The Velocity Stack helps accelerate air with less turbulance and should change the intake sound a little. It looks like the $tealin/JWT filters are also larger and more cone shaped then a Frankencar or Berk intake.

I still believe $tealins' poorly designed Velocity Stack is to blame for the part throttle whistling sound.

P.S: Steve I don't need you to email me the flow bench test. Thanks anyways.

CAI vs RAI

What I want to know is what is the pros and cons between the cold air intake and the ram air intake and which one gives greater gain more importantly on the top end as thats where I feel the maxima lacks alot. At least my 2000 does.

Oh no! Don't start up another Intake debate!! There are plenty of these already floating around in the old threads. A search should give you plenty of threads to read through about this topic.

Wait a second, so if you buy a new intake from Frankencar, they send it with a Stillen intake? I'm interested in getting one, but I do not understand what is included in the purchase. Inform me!

i would do the franken ram with stillen intake combo because here in socal you won't pass the visual smog check if you have a custom intake. Stillen intake comes with a smog legal sticker so i can pass my smog.

no we don't ship them like that. what happens is that some people already had a stillen and installed a mid piece with it.

No one has answered my question yet. When you order an intake from Frankencar for $149.99, what is included in the package? I do not have a Stillen pop charger or anything installed now, just my stock air thing -- what can I expect to get when I place my order?

Everything is included that you need. For $149.99 you get the tubing, the maf adapter and a K&N Filter. You do not need anything else.

www.frankencar.com has the info and pictures.

but what you get is the powdercoated mid section, a MAF adapter, k/n filter, connectors and hose clamps. it's everythinh you need to replace the intake.
