Car & Driver did a first drive on the 6-speed Acura type S. What caught my attention is the praise given to the limited slip differential. According to them, it virtually solves the torque steer problem on the Acura. Assuming that the HLDS on the Acura is similar to the one on the Max, we should expect the same result. Comments?

 

but the VLSD on my AE has done quite a good job on aggressive launches...since the HLSD is more responsive to torque, etc. I would only imagine it would be quite effective...

 

If VLSD works satisfactorily for you on the AE, then HLSD should works even better on the 02 Max. If I understand correctly, there's always some latency involved before the VLSD kicks in. This is the time needed for the liquid to firm up between the two slotted plates. HLSD should reacts much quicker if not instantaneously.

 

The Acura has less torque steer problems because it has waaay less torque than a 2k2 max.

 

The Max has 246, the Acura has 232. That's a difference of 6%.

 

Take a look at their dyno. They dyno around 195 ft/lbs while the Max dynos at around 218 ft/lbs. A 10% increase seems plenty to me
